PIECES OF

There is an elegance and grace in design that accompanies the human body where fascinating details are revealed. In the realm of formal design, the human figure commands a specific type of attention and intrigue. Inspired by the ideas of Edward Weston and John Coplans, I use the framework of a grid as an armature, in which I then set my imagery using sections and pieces of a variety of body types: arranging them together in such a way where viewers might see gender identity, sexuality, or even simple geometry while at the same time creating a movement that guides the viewer. It is my intent that by reducing the figure down to individual parts within this grid framework, I hope to call attention to the variety of intricate and natural forms that viewers might otherwise simply overlook or take for granted if they were to see a whole body.
